Vata dosha

What is Vata?

Vata means to have the characteristics of the wind. It signifies movement and represents the flow of fluid, food, thought and energy through your body.

By its very nature, it is light, dry and cold and ever changing. Vata is the sign of life, and we need to keep this dosha in balance.

The best way to balance Vata is through the use of Ayurvedic oils and massage therapy. Steam and heat treatments are also used to address imbalances in Vata.

Pitta Dosha

What is Pitta?

Pitta runs the engines of the body–it represents the metabolic fires that keep the body going. Digestion, perception and senses are all made possible by Pitta.

What goes wrong when your pitta is not in balance? Fevers, nausea, short tempers and more.

Doctors recommend balancing out this dosha with food that is not very spicy and is believed to have a cooling effect on the body. Various Ayurvedic medicine promote Pitta balance, like Brahmi oil, for example.
